The Extraordinary Shrinky Dink Jewelry Project!

I bought a lovely necklace from an online craft myspace type thing (here) and someone said "that necklace looks like a Shrinky Dink! How much did you pay for that?" and I said "$18" and they laughed and laughed and laughed at me. So! Of course! I have to make my own Shrinky Dink Necklace.

I bought some Shrinky Dink paper on Ebay and found the instructions on how to bake them by doing a simple Google Search.

As always, I sketch out a little plan. Those black blobs are little birds.
This is what I got: My shrinky dink paper, some colored pencils, fishing line, a clasp, scissors, and my design.
My Shrinky Dink Paper! I ordered it off Ebay for $5 dollars and $3 dollars S&H!

Shrinky Dink Paper!
I did a search for Swallow Tattoo on the internet and this is what popped up!
So I reversed one of them so they'd be facing each other and printed them out! My printer is running out of ink.
Shrinky Dink paper is see-through so I trace my design onto the paper. I'm only guessing this is how big I want it to be. It's supposed to shrink down to 1/3 it's size.

Trace!
Now I'm coloring it... black! Who saw that coming?!
Yay! That took a while. I made sure it was really dark.
And there's the other one! I traced the outline of the birds as a cutting guide.
Color!
Done!
The other bird!
Cuts like butter!
The instructions on the web say a standard hole punch is good for making holes to string through chains or whatever.
The oven is pre-heated to 325 degrees and it says put them on brown paper bag cut outs and not directly onto the cookie sheet.

Into the Oven!
Aw, they're so cute.
I'm using a fishing line for the necklace. So that it looks like they're floating! Like magic! I also like to put a little clear nail polish at the knots to make sure they don't come undone.
My necklace is done and it is fab.
Shrunk!
Add necklace or string.
Wear!
